Revised recommendation as submitted by Supervisors Solis and  
Horvath: Suspend Section 22.1 of the Rules of the Board for the limited  
purpose of considering this motion. Direct the Acting Chief Executive  
Officer and County Counsel, to develop a community-driven process  
for:  
Renaming the County holiday that currently recognizes Cesar  
Chavez, in collaboration with the County’s labor partners, and  
grounded in the same collective bargaining process that  
established the holiday.  
Renaming parks, streets, County facilities, real property,  
monuments, and other County programs that bear the name of  
Cesar Chavez, including the removal of related imagery in civic  
artworks.  
Direct the Acting Chief Executive Officer and County Counsel to  
develop a community-driven process for the renaming of parks, streets,  
County facilities, real property, monuments, and other County  
programs that bear the name of Cesar Chavez, including the removal of  
related imagery in civic artworks and report back to the Board in writing  
in 21 days with a draft of these processes and next steps for

Consideration of candidate(s) for the position of Interim Director of the  
Child Support Services Department.  
The Board selected a final candidate for the position of Interim  
Director of the Child Support Services Department and instructed  
the Acting Chief Executive Officer to negotiate and execute an  
at-will employment contract, which is approved as to form by the  
County Counsel. The vote of the Board was 4 to 1 with  
Supervisors Solis, Horvath, Hahn and Barger voting aye, and  
Supervisor Mitchell voting no. (26-1452)  
SUPPLEMENTAL AGENDA  
Renaming Cesar Chavez Day to Farmworkers Day in Recognition  
of Farmworkers’ Resilience and Contributions

Recommendation as submitted by Supervisors Solis and Hahn:  
Suspend Section 22.1 of the Rules of the Board for the limited purpose  
of considering this motion. Direct the Acting Chief Executive Officer  
and County Counsel to rename the County holiday honoring Cesar  
Chavez as Farmworkers Day, in alignment with recent actions by the  
California Legislature to acknowledge the legacy of farmworkers,  
address ongoing challenges, and reaffirm our commitment to their  
dignity and rights, beginning this year, and annually thereafter. Direct  
the Acting Chief Executive Officer to issue guidance to all County  
Departments and agencies regarding the March 30, 2026 County  
holiday and related events, including:  
Removing the name and likeness of Cesar Chavez from all  
County holiday-related events, communications, and materials,  
and updating existing materials accordingly.  
Refocusing any events that proceed on themes of farmworker  
justice, labor rights, and community service. (26-1910)
